Types of media

What is Media?

      When I heard the word "media", the first thing that come out from my mind is television and radio, because for me media is based of something that become a medium and give  any information. Actually, there are a lot of available media in this world today, like magazines, newspapers, telephone, computer, brochures, posters, cable, journals and etc. Basically, media is everything that give an information  or news to people. It has many different types, they are printed media, broadcast media, advertising media, digital media, social media and many more.

      Media is not a new thing, it is already been used from thousand years ago started with cave painting, fire and smoke signal, a paper and ink, using an animal that has a capability  to communicate like pigeons, and invented a telephone. Those media can be categorized as old media. Cave painting is used in stone age, where the 'Neanderthal' tells their stories. They create the paintings to communicate with each other, seems like communication like us now is not invented yet.  Smoke signal is used for the maritime team in the old days to give a warning or asking for help. Then people started to create a paper and ink and using animal like pigeons to help their communication especially with a distance.

      By the time goes by, telephone is created to make people more easier to be a medium among them. It is once was a great inventions, because we can hear the voice of the other people from a far distance. Until now, it is already well developed as a hand phone and smart phone. We can see the faces of other people with a video call, we can play games, doing a presentation, capturing picture and video and other conveniences by using phones.

      They have fulfill our needs, help everyone and everything with helps of the internet. Internet has a great contribution in a development of technology in modern era, people now can watch the news as they used to read newspaper. People can read the news from a newspaper online and having an accurate information about disaster and weather in other parts of the world on time. All of the progress in technology, makes the media more accessible for human life. It is give us more benefits and facility to have a better life. People need to communicate and share the ideas, and it is one of the media's role in the daily lives.
